Yeah, I watched the White House Correspondents Dinner last night. I admit it. As well as being a tax geek I'm an unashamed political wonk. You can't spend almost 20 years in Washington, D.C., and not have some of it stick with you even after you leave.
And yeah, President Obama was pretty witty, although he still too often tends to be amused at his own jokes.
As has come to be expected at the event, the president poked some self-deprecating fun at himself, mostly connected with the botched federal health care exchange opening.
Obama also got off some decent zingers at the media, primarily at the expense of the various cable news networks.
And the House Speaker John Boehner/orange is the new black quip was priceless.
But the best part of the evening, to me anyway, was the Joe Biden video.
The real vice president of the United States and HBO's Veep Selina Meyer, aka Julia Louis-Dreyfus, ditched last night's Washington-meets-Hollywood dinner and instead zoomed around the nation's capital in a bright yellow Chevy Corvette.
With the help of some Capitol Hill cameos, the pair had great fun skewering Washington conventions. If you missed it last night, enjoy it now.
Now I'm off to eat some ice cream directly from the carton without getting grief from anyone.
